Hello

I’m Allison Grodinsky, founder of Renew Resilience Counselling and a registered social worker and psychotherapist. I believe that resilience is a capacity we all carry, though sometimes life circumstances or internal barriers can mask it. My purpose is to help you reconnect with your inner strength and find meaning, calm, and forward momentum in your life.

My Background and Values

I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Social Sciences with a specialization in Social Work (BSW) with a minor in Women’s Studies. As a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Ontario Association of Social Workers, I adhere to a high standard of ethics, accountability, and continuing professional development.

My work is grounded in the values of empathy, respect, honesty, and collaboration. From our very first conversation, I aim to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where your voice is heard, your experiences are validated, and we can work together in a genuine therapeutic alliance.

My Approach to Therapy

I take a holistic, integrative approach, viewing struggles through a bio‑psychosocial lens rather than simplifying them as individual flaws. In other words, I believe that mental health is influenced by biological factors (e.g. brain, body), psychological factors (thoughts, emotions, beliefs), and social contexts (relationships, systems, environment).

I draw on a blend of evidence‑based modalities, including:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Mindfulness practices

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

  • Strengths-based and trauma-informed perspectives

I tailor my interventions to your specific needs, and if a particular approach doesn’t feel like a good fit, I welcome feedback and adjustments.

Who I Work With & What I Help With

I work with teens (14+) and adults across Ontario, both in person (Ottawa region) and online.

I offer sessions in both English and French.

My areas of focus include:

  • Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm

  • Depression and low mood

  • Emotion regulation and self-esteem

  • Trauma and past wounds

  • Life transitions, identity, and meaning

  • Relationship challenges and interpersonal growth

I also offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can see if working with me feels like a good fit.

Why Choose This Work With Me?

  • Collaborative & flexible: I don’t assume I know what’s best — I see you as the expert in your life.

  • Nonjudgmental space: Instead of pathologizing or judging, I aim to understand, validate, and support change.

  • Root-cause oriented: I don’t just manage symptoms—I aim to explore underlying patterns, beliefs, and systemic influences.

  • Ethical & safe: I maintain confidentiality, ongoing supervision, and professional growth as foundational practices.

If you’re looking for a therapeutic space where you can explore, heal, and grow — where you feel seen and supported — I welcome the opportunity to walk with you on that path.
